Mid Sussex Youth Brass Band is a lively youth band based in Burgess Hill. We rehearse, before the adult band, between 7 and 8pm on a Thursday evening in Manor Field Primary School, Burgess Hill. We provide music, uniforms and an instrument for a weekly subscription of only £1.75.
We are also a competitive and very successful youth band. For many years now the band has entered the Southern Counties Amateur Band Association (SCABA) competition at Ringmer College, and last year we won the youth quartet, youth ensemble and some members’ also entered solos, in which they came 1st and 3rd! Our conductor, Peter Mansfield, also won best interpretation.
The band has members of all ages from 4 years old to some more mature learners. Likewise we accommodate players of all abilities. Don’t worry if you’ve never played a musical instrument before, let alone a cornet or tuba, we also provide group lessons for those who require it. If you fancy picking up a new skill, improving a current one, meeting new people and making friends for life then come along on Thursday and have a listen or even join in if you want. Hope to see you there!
